Econet in all its guises • Re: HOWTO: Quick guide to setting up a shared fileserver with (Advanced)Level4 or PiEconetBridge

In tidying up my Econet and FileServer documents, I've been reading through the PiEconet supported functions and commands.

In the Acorn world the semantics for setting something is *SETxxx, eg *SetLoad, *SetExec, *SetType, etc. see link.
I think *CHOWN should be *SETOWN, or *SETOWNER.

File Server administration commands are usually *FSxxxxx, eg *FSMODE, *FSDISCNAME, *FSFORMAT, *FSSTATUS, etc. see link.
Things like DISCMASK,FNLENGTH should be *FSxxxx.

On the MDFS, *LOGOFF can take a user name to log off a specified user. *LOGOFF is the same as *BYE, *LOGOFF <userid>|<stnid> allows a privileged user to log a user off. I was wondering what *FLOG was until I realised what it was. It should be *LOGOFF.

*NETCONF should be *NETCONFIG. Again, the truncated naming thing. I kept seeing NETCONF as Net Conference not Net Configuration.

*NETxxxx is a consistant naming for network-specific things. NETSCAN, NETINFO, NETHELP, NETTALK, NETCAFE, etc.

As mentioned earlier, manipulating symbolic links should be *MKLINK, *UNLINK.
