Sorry to resurrect this thread after a few years, but as pointed out in this article https://galacticjourney.org/january-26- ... uary-1969/ the velocity at 0 feet suggests it was an unsuccessful landing that has been doctored!
I believe the original message would have been something like:
"CONGRATULATIONS ON A POOR LANDING"
or
"CRAFT DAMAGE. GOOD LUCK"

I'm also intrigued as to how J G Ballard could somehow show a computer printout that is very similar to Jim Storer's Lunar Lander program around 6 months before it was written. Perhaps Jim Storer actually wrote it in 1968 and it did the rounds of computer nerds connected to early networks, or there's some time travel involved?!
