OK, I've done the resistor pack mod, so you can choose to go either way, discrete axial resistors or a SIP resistor pack (low profile) and I've moved the bypass caps away from the ICs (although I've never had any bother with this as the ICs just drop out the board after desoldering) as I've got a huge bag of 100nF Nichicon film caps (made in Japan - whoooooo!) I'll put those in. I've had my Corsair K70 apart before and noticed the entire key switch is made of clear polycarbonate and underneath it is an RGB LED. I did remove a few keys, what's underneath is like a tiny addressable RGB pixel - I've used this before "SMD-LX0707RGB-TR" around 25p a pop for 100, yeah, amusingly tiny - probably need a board heater for these, I've attached a datasheet, it will fit a Cherry clear keyswitch (it's what the cut out is for) https://www.cherry-world.com/mx-clear but even the lowly Beeb can easily drive the serial chain to deliver 24 bit colour to each keycap.
