I would be very interested to see if this does yield the same behaviour.

I made a few changes, and FIFO3 in b2 is now looking good! And I didn't seem to need to include the consistency fix, I suspect because there'll be enough CRs printed in the startup banner to ensure there's a 13 in the right place. 1 down, 3 to go

Just occurred to me I've added the tests to the b2 repo without checking first - haven't pushed to GitHub yet though! Is this OK? And if so, would you like a particular licence?
