I have tried the WAV file from vanekp's Google Drive and it loads the KNIGHT that is one block long, the starts loading the splash screen that I never see, all I get is a black screen. I can hear the cassette motor relay clicking now and then.
I gave up with that and took the UEF file from the same place made it into a WAV file and tried that. Now it loads the first bit but when it tries to load the splash screen I get a "rewind tape" message straight away.
I gave up with that and tried the PHP Quadbike 2 from the link and it seems like an old version, 3.2 (there is talk of a v4.1 ?) - with that the splash screen loads and I guess the game starts loading, but there's a beep at some point and then nothing else happens.
I am only trying the one BBC at the moment.
I tried a USB sound card, now I get nowhere with the WAV file from Quadbike, all I get is garbled text for the filename and random block numbers. Going back to the UEF generated WAV file I get a bit closer as I can hear the relay clicking whilst the game is loading, I assume part of the protection?
Is there a link to a better version of Quadbike? Maybe the BBC is bad somehow?
I tried a couple of the boards built from scratch and they don't even register the existence of the Quadbike file, not even garble.
I'll pull out a random BBC and try it again, I'll start with something else, like Welcome and then progress towards finnicky stuff like Knight Lore...
