Continuing on from the BBC Issue 3 Model B... the repeating keys and other weirdness was caused by IC32 (74LS259) being flaky. However, my blind-typed program I do for keyboard testing didn't work properly. None of the function keys+SHIFT or CTRL had any effect. Also CTRL+BREAK didn't work very often, just pressing BREAK on its own sometimes produced a beep, CTRL+BREAK barely ever did.
The solution to the missing keys problem turned out to be the OS and BASIC were very early ones. This BBC was barely used, it had the SMPS replacement with the nylon screws, no disc interface and no marking around the DIN connectors, it was even shipped to me in its original box and polys. I have a spare OS1.2 mask ROM and I burnt BASIC2 and DNFS. Now to install Econet - on issue 1->3 boards this is a pain.
Code:
*FX4,1REPEAT:SOUND1,-15,GET,1:UNTIL0
