That's quite possible, yes. I probably (almost-definitely) ran it on our A310, which had one of the scart-connected Philips monitors (I forget the AKF number) and we ran that in mode 12.This is a wild guess; the demo requires screen mode 12. In 1989, that would have been the most common option on the desktop - the full resolution of your 15 kHz HSync monitor, using just 80 KiB of RAM on your A310 or A3000. By 1992, the A5000 was out, and multisync monitors were more common. Therefore, the "obvious" fix is to change the !Run file to force MODE 12, which makes it launch properly on all machines, but breaks the palette.
The sample also needs a 15Hz mode to play at the correct rate. The demo leaves the sample as the default 'beep' module, and it sounds noticable faster in a multisync mode if you generate an error window after changing back.
FWIW, I'm fairly sure I blagged my copy from the Clares stand at a London Acorn exhibition I went to, but I could be wrong. I have a vague memory about cheekily asking and after some discussion, possibly with Dave Clare, I was given the OK provided I bought a floppy from them
