Have you ruled out the A3000 or cable being at fault? "Shaking" can often mean that one of the pair of signals is disconnected - this often happens when the cable is damaged, plug/socket is damaged or corroded, or some of the traces/components on the board are damaged, and this is particularly common on A3000 that's had any level of battery leakage. Open up the mouse, open up the machine, continuity test each of the direction signals from the mouse PCB through to the 8051. You don't say which direction is faulty, but 8051 (IC2) pins 25/26 are Xr/Xd and pins 27/28 are Yr/Yd. You should have solid continuity from these pins all the way to inside the mouse. You might also check you've got solid and reliable power and ground to the mouse.
