!New_Look in your "Apps" folder is changing the icons and desktop background. If you don;t want that move/delete it. Description of newlook here - http://www.riscos.com/ftp_space/310/index.htm
So it seems that you A3020 has had "wizzo" added to the OS roms, to allow multiple disc partitions. I think this is the root of your confusion.
An A3020 will support a hard disc shown as drive 4 with just RISC OS. This will show as ADFS::4 or ADFS::IDEDisc4 in the title of a filer window.
Wizzo will also see the on-board disc, but will show it as IDEFS::4 ot IDEFS::IDEDisc4. You should use ADFS or IDEFS to access the on-board drive, but not both.
You need to ensure *Configure IDEDiscs 0 is set, so the base OS (ADFS) doesn't try to access the disc that is being handled by Wizzo (shown as IDEFS).
You also need to configure the default filing system to be IDEFS, not ADFS (This is probably what is causing your "bad drive" error at startup)
As the name of this website stardot. Typing just a dot "." at the F12 prompt will show you a directory or catalogue of the currently selected filing system and path. (Risc OS command can be abbreviated e.g. *conf. for *configure. a single dot is the shortest abbreviation for *cat). A catalogue listing will also show the *opt 4 boot setting near the top.
Try this - (some of these will already be correct, but to be sure)
*conf. idediscs 0
*conf, filesystem idefs
*conf. drive 4
*conf. boot
*idefs
*drive 4
*opt 4,2
*status (or *st.) will show the currently configured settings.
Ensure you do a full reset after making any changes, either a power-cycle, or press CTRL and reset.
