8-bit acorn hardware • Why it is best to take it apart and NOT turn it on..

I bought a brand-new, in box, never used Master 128 from eBay. I haven't seen a brand new M128 in a box since my father bought one home and asked me what I thought of it - getting on 40 years ago. I'm much, much wiser now than I was back then  (cue me trying various games and utilities)

The careful unboxing  then disassembly, so, this had its battery pack replaced from the exploding lithium thionyl at some point and the characteristic smell and taste of leaking electrolyte was hanging in the air.

2 - Acorn want me to bin it - maybe they are right.jpg
3 - Duracells have seen better days.jpg

So whilst the battery pack is fizzing away like a champagne party in acid, it's time to pop the power supply. I *hate* working on Master PSUs because they're a royal PITA to get apart for re-capping.

8 - Still reads OK though.jpg
9 - RIFAs never been used.jpg
