I believe A3010/A3020/A4000 does what A5000 does and just scan all possible IDs anyway, so may not even need to worry about that. I've an A3020 which has a 'normal' PC floppy drive in it (case slightly 'adjusted' to cope with the different size/position of eject button) - I could check.
If that's what the A5k does then I'd guess it must be what the others do. Never knew that!
That's at least part of what the drive "Ker-chunk" is about on bootup. And there's no way for the machine to know whether the drive select/motor demuxer PAL is present or not (A5000-only feature to support two drives on two connectors for a total of 4). So I assume at least drive 0/1 will work on whatever setting on an A30x0/A4000.
