now that is interesting...I thought they were very rare and didn't realise there was a modern equivalent. That would be a much better option for me.
A final option is to do both. If you don't need the CDROM drive. CJE recreated the A7000 backplane : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124621639767 which sits where the CDROM drive goes, and then you can fit a single 16bit podule - either Econet or Ethernet, leaving the NIC slot for the other option.
