Plays really nicely, maybe a tad difficult to start with.
Wait till the later levels, I'm reliably assured that all new 8bit retro games should be very difficult ;)
: maps to # when I use the link, which feels a bit off, but that is not your fault ;)
I hadn't noticed that! On Elkulator is maps to the "@" key on my keyboard (the key to left of #) which makes it a little easier. Maybe something for @0xC0DE to think about ?
A couple of times, keys got stuck down but released after a bit, but the last time Z got stuck down even when I clicked back to *. so again, emulator not you.
I haven't noticed this and have played it quite a lot on both Elkulator & Electroniq - however I did refactor the keyboard code yesterday (as a prelude to getting it working on the BBC and to support different layouts) so there is a possibility I've broken something. Will keep an eye out for this.
Is going forwards supposed to make the enemies come down the screen faster, it feels like it should but doesn't - hard to tell.
"Kind of" - the aliens are slightly faster when the game is scrolling but not as fast as they technically should be - I arrived at this after experimenting a bit and sacrificed realism for playability. If they move too fast vertically then it becomes almost impossible to play. There's also a small bug which I keep meaning to fix but that might just end up being a "feature" where the aliens sometimes slow down their vertical movement.
No issues with the game, apart from I had for gotten the back to menu key - Doh! that is why is M(enu)
I could only get t the first barrier and didn't shoot the posts out in time.
I think I need to work more on using the missiles and maybe read the rest of the instructions ;)
Really appreciate the feedback, getting towards the end of the project so all feedback is going to help :)

Tactics wise, I tend to keep my finger on the fire bullet button all the time and allow auto-fire to help, then use tactical missile presses to get any pesky aliens that get too close. You can only have a total of 4 bullets/missiles on screen at the same time so sometimes you do need to stop firing bullets in order to get a "slot" for a missile. Keeping moving is key, as is not getting trapped in the corners on the later levels when the little aliens are tracking you much more closely.
