This is expected behaviour, because the 1770 needs the whole track data sending to it for each track when formatting a disc, so it has to be assembled in RAM by the format command first, which overwrites anything in its way. I had cause to format a DFS disc for the next thing I am about to do so I tested it: Typing NEW after the format fixes things:One thing I've noticed is that after attempting to format,
sometimes typing in and attempting to run a basic program gives "Mistake" or "Bad command" after typing RUN, OLD or LIST, and occasionally the mode 7 text margin shifts to the right by about half a page.
