If they don't animate and the two are simultaneous from a choice of many, shift tables might be an option.
Still expensive for a two colour mode as you need 7x2x256
One of the games I ported has many different sprites to choose from that can be at any pixel position and can also be mirrored and flipped vertically!
Thanks Tricky. I think there are 4 categories of sprites, one of which I think should almost certainly have single pixel horizontal movement. These won't be very big, so I could get away with having two frames for each - memory may be the deciding factor. The other three, probably not, though I haven't yet decided how to implement some of the enemy projectiles.
