I can't make anything of that last picture either.
I've played your Elite on both a large lcd and a 9" crt and it works well on both. I think on the adjustment screen is like to be able to push everything further back so that even closer objects don't look to be closer than the console but that's maybe just me. The effect works well and things look to be behind the laser graticule but the effect isn't so exaggerated to be off-putting.
I noticed it is a bit of a strain at first but my eyes seem to dial in to the glasses after a few minutes. I've not tried a full on all-nighter elite session with the glasses on yet though!
