Hi all,
Greetings from a very rusty returnee to BBC land. I had a B back in the day (now long gone) but have only recently acquired and restored a very sad Master Compact. I have no software on disk to run so have been down the Omnidisk/Omniflop rabbit hole to see what I can do for myself.
I can't run Omniflop under XP as that machine is a laptop and Omniflop seems to hate laptup ("USB") FDDs.
But I can run Omnidisk under DOS or a DOS window on my wonderful Win98 machine with CD, 5.25, 3,5 and USB disks, that I use for lots of my retro disk escapades.
But I can't get my head round how I take the Welcome Disk image from here: viewtopic.php?t=8017
and write it to an ADFS L 3.5" floppy for my Compact, using Omnidisk.
I can just read enough data from my only but very cruddy Master Compact 3.5" disk to get Omnidisk SCAN Head 0 to identify the format, so Omnidisk should now remember that it's ADFS_L.
Now what do I do? I have the Welcome disk source image ready, but can't figure out how to write it, despite scouring the help document.
Do I have to format first? That does work by the way. I can see a USE IMAGE command but that seems to create a whole new image file.
Anyone here long enough in the tooth to remember how to write from disk images in OmniDisk?
I don't want to have to build a whole new XP machine with appropriate disks (or even load a dual boot on the existing machine) just to do this!
any hints would be most welcome.
