8-bit acorn hardware • Strange disc drive cable

Hi,
Just curious as to why on some dual disc drives, I've noticed that the wires from pins 1 and 2 of the BBC have been notched out?
I don't think these are critical for 5 1/4 drives pin 1 0v and pin 2 select line for 8inch drives, but any reason why these would be deliberately cut?
